GOOSE ISLAND BEER COMPANY:
BREWING THE MIDWEST'S FRESHEST BEER
When
Goose Island Beer Company
was founded in 1988, there were only 16 brewpubs in the US. As brewpubs
began to spring up across the country seemingly overnight, Goose Island
solidified its position as a pioneer in the industry. Today, with distribution
of its bottled beer across the Midwest and a beginning in the nonalcoholic
beverage business, Goose Island has proven its staying power.
When opening the original Goose Island brewpub on Clybourn, Goose Island
founder John Hall and his team of professionals focused on every detail,
from the unique Goose handle taps to the unmistakable "English-style
pub" atmosphere. Hall knew that success started with a quality product
and brand recognition. The Clybourn pub building was originally home to
a brewery supply company for the pre-prohibition era brewery district.
Now a daily reminder of Chicago's rich brewing history, Goose Island Clybourn
has been named one of the top ten breweries in the world by the Beverage
Testing Institute.
Honker's Ale - The beer that launched a revolution: Inspired by
visits to English country pubs, Honker's Ale combines a spicy hop aroma
with a rich malt middle to create a perfectly balanced ale that is immensely
drinkable. A smooth, drinkable English Bitter for those looking for more
from their beer.
India Pale Ale - Our hop-lover's classic ale: Our IPA recalls
a time when ales shipped from England to India were highly hopped to preserve
their distinct taste during the long journey. The result, quite simply
a hop lover's dream. And this classic ale adds a fruity aroma, set off
by a dry malt middle, to ensure that the long hop finish is one you'll
remember.
MOLSON
John
Molson founded Canada's oldest brewery on the banks of the St. Lawrence
River in Montreal in 1786. Ever since, the Molson brewers have been passionate
about brewing different beers for Canadians to enjoy. Today, Molson
is now one of Canada's oldest consumer brand names and North America's
oldest beer brand.
Molson's brewing methods are rooted in a tradition of quality. The very
finest natural ingredients, the best brewing methods and the experience
of our skilled brewmasters, are combined to brew beer that achieves both
our standards of excellence and those of our consumers. Today, we brew
a host of award-winning beers.
CANADIAN truly exemplifies the pride of Canada's young adults and is a
reflection of the pride we take as Canadians in brewing world class beer.
Starting with crystal clear water, malted barley and the finest hops,
CANADIAN is slowly fermented to produce a smooth, refreshing beer with
a genuine taste. Clean and clear, crisp and cold CANADIAN is a classic
lager.
SAMUEL SMITH INDIA ALE
History:
In the late 18th and early 19th centuries there was a considerable trade
in beer to India. Leaving the India Docks in London, ships would sail
around the Cape of Good Hope through the Indian Ocean to Bombay and beyond,
a three-to four-month trip. Highly hopped pale beers brewed to withstand
the trip became known as "IPA," India Pale Ale.
Taste: A restrained maltiness and an emphasis on the aroma and flavor
of hops from England's finest vineyards.
Serving Suggestions: Green chili and lime pickle, mulligatawny soup, pork
with vinegar and garlic, chicken with a roasted coconut sauce, fish on
a bed of potatoes, onions and tomato masala, prawns curry and duck risotto.
Serve in nonik pint glasses.
SAMUEL SMITH NUT BROWN ALE
History:
Often called "mild" if it is on draft, brown ale is a walnut-colored
specialty of the North of England. A festive-occasion beer, brown ale
is one of the oldest English brewing styles, mentioned in literature in
the 16th century. Beers brewed at the old brewery have a round, nutty
flavor because of the Yorkshire square system of fermentation.
Taste: Walnut-like color and palate of hazelnuts. Wonderful balance of
roasted crystal malt and aromatic hops. Long clean finish.
Serving Suggestions: Stilton cheese, grouse and roasted game hen, barbecued
duck, pepper steak; spicy food, paella, stir-fry, teriyaki, Thai food,
Chinese food, creamy chicken and pineapple curry. Serve at 55 degrees.
